The ITU-APT Foundation of India (IAFI) Workshop on Preparatory Activities for WRC- 27 offers an authoritative overview of the WRC-27 preparatory activities, highlighting WRC-27's crucial role in shaping India’s spectrum roadmap. It covers alignment with national spectrum policies and international regulations, plus a concise review of key agenda items. Delegates will gain insights into ITU-R Working Parties, the Conference Preparatory Meeting (CPM) process, national-regional synergies, and the status of key studies. Dedicated sessions on WP 4A and WP 4C will explore impact of GSO and Non GSO satellite services amid rising spectrum demands and satellite-terrestrial inter working.

This high-level workshop brings together senior representatives from DoT, WPC Wing, industry, research institutions, and policy experts to prepare for WRC-27 and upcoming ITU-R Working Party meetings. Amid focus on spectrum efficiency and satellite-terrestrial convergence, it provides a platform for government-industry engagement, sharing insights on emerging technologies and ITU-R studies in WP 5D, WP 4A, and WP 4C, and their implications for mobile and satellite services—strengthening India’s role in WRC-27 agenda items 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.5, 1.7, and 1.13.

  • What should be the key regional objectives for India for WRC-27?
  • What were the key outcomes of AWG-34 and how India can contribute to APT 27-2 meeting?
  • What are the key potential bands for 6G and how we can contribute to the studies towards WRC-27 agenda 1.7?
  • What will be the key priority areas of discussion at the APT-27-2 and other regional preparatory meetings in other Regions?
  • How can various stakeholders come together to ensure that national WRC-27 objectives are achieved? How can the experiences and lessons learned at WRC-23 help to shape the strategic planning and negotiations leading up to WRC-27?
  • What role can regional harmonization of spectrum policies play in achieving a more efficient and unified approach to spectrum management?
